DS has just been moved to a new class with no friends of his own - he is finding it very difficult and is unhappy at break times etc. should I move him to another class even although I really really want him to have this teacher?

Why was he moved into a different class? I'm afraid that without a bit more information it's very hard to say what would be best!

do you mean same school but different class? if so why? and why cant he see his pals at playtime?

I'm really surprised that you have the the choice to "move him to another class" tbh. In most schools it is a huge deal to have kids moved from one class to another.

Why does it stop him seeing his friends at playtime and lunch time? Do you have the option of moving him anyway? If you like the teacher I would keep him where he is. My DS1 had most of his friends in a different class in the juniors but he still saw them in the playground.

Doubt if the school would be willing to move him; they probably have important reasons behind the reshuffle. Anyway, he should be able to play with his friends at breaktime; that's where most of the socialising goes on.

sorry didn't explain properly - he was moved at the start of the new school year (year 3) and most of his friends are in another playground, same school.

still not clear - was he moved to a different year?

Why was he moved? And why was noone else moved with him?

Is it a huge school?-it seems odd to have the same year in different playgrounds.
