What could be making me dd like this - worried mum of PFB!

DD in year 1 and has started to kick and hit and scratch me daily, she has wet herself at school everyday for the past three weeks, her reading has gone from level 5 to level 2. Nothing at home has changed.

Shes good at school, she has never been in trouble according to teacher and dd has been on top table and had prizes constantly in the last three weeks for good behaviour and the most stars. She has not fallen out with her friends, they play in the park each night together and all if fine there.

Im just baffled what has made my delightful reception child into a child that at home is so frustrated by her homework and learning that she could do easily before and has become agressive towards me and the wetting herself

Have you had her checked out by the GP for a urinary infection? I think that you need to defintley ensure that there isn't actually a medical reason behind the wetting.

The reading is odd, but it is fairly common for children to be re-assessed after the summer hols. Dropping 3 levels is a bit unusual though. How long was she on level 5 for and had she progress through the other levels at a steady pace?

my dd is the same age (i presume), she has just moved up to year 1

she has been quite anxious recently, i think the jump from reception to yr 1 is a big one

yep no infection, dd started school on level 2 and progressed on a steady pace since then. she had been on level 5 for a good few months. I have just got a book out that dd was reading in the 3rd week of school and dd couldnt do it.

Its the wetting and kicking and scratching etc thats really worrying me My sweet dd has a fight with another child in the park the other night and shes NEVER usually like that.

Have you been in and spoken to the teacher???

My dd is in year 1 and taken to wetting herself at school and home but not telling anyone .I have put it down to a change of rountine long time off in the summer.And trying to make a big deal but its so frustating(sp)

Shes sleeping well yes, when you ask her about school shes fine about it and goes in happily.

Spoke to inclusion officer this morning as she comes out on the playground and she said she would make sure teacher reminded dd to go to toilet but another child told me that they were made to wait to playtime before going, not sure if thats true or not, i guess they cant have them going in and out constantly when teacher is doing carpet time.

Spoke to teacher regarding her reading the other day, teacher allowed dd to pick her own books from coloured band etc. Didnt make a difference.

Not spoke to them about the hitting etc as its only started this week.

I meant trying NOT to make a big deal.

Have they changed playgrounds or where they have lunch.She may have seen older kids do it???

no she is in the same playground and she is now the oldest class in the playground with the little new starters, this is why im worried because nothing at all seems to have changed [confused smiley]
