Highgate state primary school

Hi. We're considering moving to Highgate and wondered if anyone had any knowledge of Highgate primary school - the state one not private. It seems to have good SATS and a good Ofsted, but what I have gleaned from other mums in the area is that people aim to go to St Michael's or private, and that its quite undersubscribed. We're not CoE, so I guess Highgate primary would be the state option. Does anyone have children there, and are they happy and learning well? Why isn't it more popular?

I didn't know it was under-subscribed and am actually quite surprised. I've always heard that it's a good school and know quite a few people whose kids go/went there and loved it.

In fact, if my two hadn't got into the school they start at in September, I would have tried getting them into Highgate primary although it's just over the borough border.

It seems to be a very inclusive, liberal school ie kids do yoga and think they have joint classes with school for deaf kids that is on same site?

I have known several children who have been very happy, they can be undersubscribed, but it seems to be more in the top end of the school, as there is a bit of a problem getting into good secondary schools, so lots of people move.
There is a new headmaster starting in September, he was previously the deputy head at Rhodes Avenue in Muswell Hill.

Thanks for your replies - that's encouraging. I guess its not technically undrsubscribed, only that the catchment is 1.5 miles compared to 0.3 for a lot of the others.

Could be because a lot of parents in the immediate area send their kids to Channing/Highgate or St Michael's C of E. As I said, I've never heard of any problems/issues with Highgate Primary itself
