Yr 2 Sats - 2c what does it mean?

I just don't really understand the scoring and because the school essentially doesn't believe in sats we have recieved little explaination.

We always been told at parents evenings etc. that dd is doing just fine, however she got 2c in her literacy - is that 'just fine'? It seems she is in the bottom 10% in her year. I haven't really discussed it with dd (don't think its appropriate) but should I be concerned?

thanks - so english and maths have the sub-levels but science doesn't - they can get a 1 2 or 3 only? is that right?

Within English reading and writing have sublevels (speaking and listening don't).

Looking at the national stats, with a 2c in reading, that puts her at between 16% and 29% nationally, where 0 is the lowest and 100 the highest. So she could be in that middle 50% (25%-75%) and that would be fine I would think - might need a little more help on the reading, but not a disaster.

To be honest I'm not THAT surprised, she just seem to like reading....tried lots of things to encourage it but if I'm honest her heart really isn't in it, unlike other areas of school work which I think she really enjoys.

Anyway seeing teacher after school today.
