Deferred child at school

Has anyone on deferred there child starting school? My summer born child was meant to start school this year but I deferred it till next year however I am.now thinking ot wasn't a good idea and thinking of maybe starting him after Christmas? Has anyone done this? I am not sure what to do. I think he is going to get board if he doesn't start till next year but isn't just yet. Will there still be spaces

@justdobetter Are you saying my LA is wrong? I doubt that. Indeed delay is starting YR a year later. That’s what it says. Deferring is into y1. That’s what it says.

I’m a reception teacher. I’ve had lots of children defer their entry to the next year and it’s always worked out well for them. Do not start them after Christmas. They will have missed so much learning and schools will not have the capacity to catch them up fully. Half term could work but even then, if it were my school - they’d have missed a very large portion of phonics!!
