Should we move our daughter’s primary school now or wait a year?

Hello! My 7 year old daughter started at a new school 5 weeks before the end of term as we moved house but for reasons I can't get into, we have decided to sell and move closer to our old area. That being said, we have a chance to move her to a school that we love that is in the area that we're now looking and only 15 minute drive from where we are currently living. She already has a few friends there and her old teacher has just started.

Question is...should we move her now to the school she'll be in for the next 4 years or leave her where she is until we move in approx 1 years time. Worried about the disruption it could cause her but are kids that able to cope with so much change in such a short time?

Move her now if you can and if you're deficient going back there, but didn't term start in a few days? I'd be surprised if you could get get in that quickly. She's had 5 weeks at the end of a term don't keep her there a year let her just settle in and make friends then move her yet again

If there is currently space at the school you want, and you are definitely going to move in a year or so, do it now. Surely it's less disruptive to do two quick succession moves, before she's fully settled, rather than leave it until she's settled again and have her leave yet another set of friends behind. Plus there may not be a space at the other school by then. A 15 minute drive is doable for a year. The fact she already knows some people there is a bonus. I'd say do it now.

It sounds like a lot of upheaval. How close is the school she's just moved to, to where you're planning to move? If it's not too far which it doesn't sound like I wouldn't move her to a third school especially if you have no idea of how long it will be until you're able to make the move.

Move her now whilst you can get the place. Although what happens if you don't move - is secondary places based on your catchment or feeder priority?

It sounds like all three schools are situated within a pretty compact area. How far is the original school from the current school? And what makes you think the school 15 minutes drive away is a better option?

More long term, what are secondary options like in your area?
