Experiences of Lewes primary schools

Does anyone have any information on Lewes primary schools? Moving there imminently, and in touch with the LA about an in-year place for DC. I think Southover, Western Road and Wallander are in the mix. They all seem decent, but would be great to get a sense of what they're like relative to each other, as we didn't have a chance to visit any of them before the holidays.

Best place to ask these kinds of queries is local facebook groups. Seems like there is one called Lewes Parents Group that could be a good starting point.

Assuming you mean Wallands not Wallander - yeah those three all look fine on paper (all Good at Ofsted recently) so the reports won't really decide it for you. If you can get a look round once term's underway that helps more than anything, and ask the LA which ones actually have a place in your year group right now, because in-year is all about space.

I'm developing a school comparison site for the South East that's completely free to use (schoolcompass.uk) which will hopefully be helpful for this sort of shortlist. It just lines nearby schools up on the published figures and distance.

Can't go wrong with any of the schools in Lewes.

they are all good. My child went to Southover; it was excellent. Southover is the largest school so you have the best chance of getting in there. Western Road is smaller and often over subscribed so unless you are close you won’t probably get a place there.
