Primary 1 - composite class

First experience of primary school since I was there myself so any advice would be appreciated 🤣

DC is due to start P1 in August (Scottish). There were set to be 2 full classes but in a last minute change, a couple of parents have decided to withdraw applications from another nearby school and instead send their children to DCs school, meaning there are too many children for 2 classes.
Things are now being reshuffled and it’s looking like there will be 2 P1 classes and a composite P2/1 class.

Composite classes themselves don’t worry me as I went to a smaller primary school myself which was composite classes the whole way through - but that’s the norm there and the teachers are very used to working that way.

This would be a new thing at DCs school - the school hasn’t had composites before and the teachers haven’t taught composite classes before.

Would you be concerned? I’m concerned that we’ve reached this point and I still can’t give DC the reassurance of what class they’ll be in or what teacher they’ll have. And I think I’m also a bit concerned that teaching composite may be a big adjustment for everyone and may be a bit of a shaken start to P1 if DC is placed in that class.

Both my DC’s were in composite classes, they were the oldest in their year which meant they were in P1 of P1/2 and right up until P3.
I think it really helped them, when they got to P4 they were well ahead of the others who had just been in the normal P1 class
I think up here composite classes are very common and most teachers should be able to adjust their teaching accordingly
