If you got your school decision in the post, when did it arrive?

We find out which primary school our son has been allocated tomorrow. We stupidly missed the online deadline (by a few hours!) as we were really undecided what order to put them in, so had to apply via paper form/email. Just wondering, how likely is it we’ll receive it tomorrow? Do they post them out 1st class today? If, in previous years, you received yours by post, when did it arrive?

Sorry, I’m flapping!

Did you confirm with them explicitly at the time that your application would be treated as an on-time application? In many areas, if you miss the online application deadline, you would technically be treated as a late application.

In terms of postal results, if they did treat your Application as on time, the day the letter goes in the post is likely depend on where you are. Where I am for example, results don't get released until 5 pm on Thursday, so it's my understanding from admissions conversations in the past that result letters are timed if possible to arrive the next morning. Though of course the post is not an exact science!

Other regions release results much earlier in the day So it's possible that you may receive it in the post tomorrow morning.

@PatriciaHolm Yes, definitely still on time, I didn’t miss the deadline altogether. The online one ends before the postal one (which makes no sense to me!) so I just missed the online deadline and got a letter confirming I’ll receive the decision by post ‘on or around the 16th April’.

I’m in Sheffield. One of my friends has said she believes the results are released at midnight for online applicants. Another friend who applied last years said she got hers by post but it was 1-2 days after the official date, although she’s in Rotherham so it might differ slightly from Sheffield. I assumed the letters would be sent out 1st class today to try ensure they are delivered tomorrow but I’ve honestly no idea!
