Your DS's friends ask you why you don't buy him a pair of Nike trainers?

DS (aged 7 - in Y2) was lining up to go into school this morning and chatting about playing football. His 2 mates were looking at his trainers (Clarkes cica, in the sale!) and asked me this - not being rude, just bantering.

I was lost for words at the time and felt a bit bad... but lost of his other mates have similar trainers...

I'd say Nike were crap and Cica were far cooler ! not helpfui I guess - one boy asked why we had such a small tv and I told him that large ones were vulgar

I'd've just said We think those are cool -and switched the subject.

I don't spend all my money on a lousy tick.

LOL! But these are nice little boys and I don't want to make them (or their families) think that I am belittling their choice of trainer - clearly the brand image is important to them, even though I don't feel my family needs that to make us feel good about oursleves IYSWIM!

Because we liked these ones best.

Out loud I'd say.... We buy the ones we like best.

In my head I'd say.....because I have more taste than your mommy
