It's not exactly life or death, but I still need help to decide

because I am torn!

This is the first year that I have been able to accompany the dd's on school trips, before I couldn't because of ds.

So far this year I have been on two trips with dd1's class (yr 2) and two with dd2's class (reception).
They both have one more trip coming up, and I can't decide whether to be a helper again or not.

For:
The dd's want me to.
It's nice to have that extra time with them.

Against:
Is it beneficial for them to sometimes experience trips without me there? Don't know?
It's time away from ds, and to some extent imposing ds on MIL, even though she loves having him and he loves being with her.

So what do you think?

Do yu enjoy going? Do your girls behave differently when you are there - nt going off doing own thing, clingy round you, etc?

I do think it is beneficial for most children to enjoy school trips without a parent there. But it very much depends on your child. If they are happy with you there and ignore you, go do their own stuff, etc. then it probably doesn't matter.

They don't cling to me but they do end up being in the group that I look after so the experience would be different without me there.

I have a bit of a guilt thing going on because dd has made it known she's upset that I couldn't do this when she was in Reception and Yr 1, so she's kind of missed out.

I think if you've already done 2 trips each that's great. Give another parent a chance as well to help out!
