Teddington primaries - St Mary's & St Peter's

Hi there

We are re-locating from SE London to Teddington in January.

The property we are close to signing for is purposefully very close to St Peter's & St Mary's - we're around 200m from the school gates.

My question is around religion and how bigger role this plays in the schools culture, curriculum and general approach?

We are not religious and we want to be sure that we're not opting into something that is overly religious.

We do not feel strongly either way about religion - not particularly for or against. We more want to understand what environment we are putting our child into and want to do that intentionally.

Many thanks

If I were you I would look for a property by looking at the secondary schools. If you have a girl then within Waldergrave catchment, if you have a boy close to that Teddington's catchment nodal point. Towards Hampton Wick you are put of catchment and your choice is only Teddington school which is not bad but not great. Too far from Kingston Academy catchment There is also a point near Teddington Lock where you are in catchment for Grey Court but small area and this is a great school.
All primary schools are good or very good in the area and in CoE schools the religious aspect is minimal that is morning prayers. They have RE everywhere.

Consider Collis if you want a non Church school.

Both my godchildren went there and I think the religion was very light touch. Are you focused on SMSP because you want to be in the Waldegrave catchment?
