Advice needed for St Michael’s Highgate

Hi everyone! Our little one is due to start reception next year and we’ve heard such lovely things about St Michael’s Highgate. We’re about 0.7 miles away, but not CoE. We do practise another faith though. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with how the admissions process works in this situation. Do we stand much of a chance or is it really only realistic for CoE families?

We’ll be going along to the open day, but I’d love to hear some candid advice from parents here first.

I would think that you have a very good chance, especially if your supplementary application form is signed by a minister/leader from your faith.

Admissions use a points system as the over-subscription criteria, with points given for living in the admissions area, attending the school nursery and for regular attendance at worship of your faith.

But plenty of other good local primary schools in the area.

Thank you so much for responding! Yes, lots of good schools around so hopefully LO will get into a nice one. One of his nursery friends goes to St Michael’s, so he keeps saying he wants to go to his friend’s school lol (the friend is CoE btw).

St Michael's has a surprisingly large catchment area - for an outstanding London school, it's simply enormous! - so it's definitely worth a shot. There are also very frequent places coming available. This is mostly because the families that send their kids there often have one eye on 7+ and occasional places at independent schools.
