Meeting new parents

My son has just changed school in year 5. I'd be grateful for suggestions on ways to meet other parents, because at this point, parents probably already have established friendships etc. At the moment alot of kids are in after-school, clubs etc at pick-up. And I don't know who the parents even are!

p.s. im slightly on the social awkward side.

Is there a whatsapp group? You probably need to get a name of someone your son vaguely likes as they leave and introduce yourself, I wouldn't worry about getting to know everyone, just his friends.
When's his birthday? You'll be past class parties but hopefully would meet a few parents if he does something for that.

Well there will be school events coming up this term if you are able to go. Check if you’ve missed any newsletters. Look on the website.
Often volunteers are needed for Christmas Fair etc.

You could ask a parent Governor about the PTA or parental involvement.
