Starting School Books

Can anyone suggest a book about starting school that is fun and where the children are happy to go, not anxious or scared. We have the Charlie and Lola one and Dinosaur Starts School and both are about being nervous. Amazon doesnt say if its up beat or catering for nervs so its hard to tell what they are about.

Any suggestions?

Can you still get Topsy and Tim - I found them to be qute excited about the things they did.

google Topsy and Tim

they're old fashioned but really nice and practical and pragmatic and everyday

i'm sure they'll have one about starting in school -- actually yes they do I've just remembered

my children didn't noticed the old-fashioned ness and just loved them (grandma presents)

wow i thought i'd be the only one!

Hi

Usborne do a Usborne first experience book titled Going to school very upbeat. There is also a sticker book of the same name

I'd recommend Janet and Allan Ahlberg's book 'starting school' - It has loads of the most lovely detailed little pictures and is very informative for young children about lots of different aspects of school life -

I think Shirley Hughes has done a couple on the starting school theme as well?

Yes, we have the Topsy and Tim one too but I think the Ahlbergs one is much nicer. We probably have half a dozen different ones but this is the only one which keeps getting looked at - DD starts in September too.

Right, have ordered Topsy and Tim and Starting School by the Ahlbergs. I think we already have the Usborne one in a collection of stories, I had forgotten that one so will go and hunt it down.

Are the Shirley Hughes ones upbeat?

Many thanks
