"leave of absence" form. Is this normal?

I've just email my child's school to advise they'll be absent for 1 day next July to attend their aunt's wedding. I gave the date and explained why child will be absent. School replied that they will send a "leave of absence" form home with my child today. Is this something for me to worry about? Any chance they could reject the request? I intend for my child to attend the wedding regardless. It's out of the area, so we'll be travelling the night before.
I've never kept my child off for anything like this before, child has exceptional attendance record and has never been late for school.

It’s very normal procedure.

It’s normal. They will reject it, it will be an unauthorised absence. Don’t worry about it.

Very normal - they need it for their records. They can't refuse the request but they can (and probably will) mark it as an unauthorised absence.

Very normal. They can't refuse it but they can mark it as unauthorised.
But some school will authorise it - we got 3 days authorised for our DS aunts wedding (admittedly in Australia) - one for travel there, one for the wedding and one for travel back.

Next July? Gosh I would just call in on the day and say ‘X won’t be in today’

Its normal
You fill it in
They reject it
You go anyway
And as long as it genuinely is a one off... nothing happens.

Schools will sometimes grant an authorised absence for a wedding. We needed 2 days off for 2 funerals and that was authorised. Even if it's unauthorised, you just go anyway and remember the school are not that fussed by 1 day but have to follow the rules.
