P2 Level in Glasgow Primary School

Hi, my name is Nancy and I have just moved to Glasgow with my husband and 5-year-old child. Based on my child’s birthday (end of February 2020), the primary school placed my child in P2 instead of P1. That makes me too stressful since my child has languages disorder, is hard to make friends and lacks of confidence. I already tried to talk to Glasgow Council and the headteacher, but it seems like the headteacher does not want to put my child in P1. The reason is that the P1 class was already full, yet, I did check with them 2 days before and the slot is still available. What else should I can do now? Please advise!

where did your child attend last year? School or nursery. Based on that birthday most parents would have delayed starting primary one until this year.

We are foreigners and just moved here 2 months.

Ah that's tough. Most people would not have their 5 year old with an end of February birthday entering primary 2. At the other end of their education they would be finishing high school and heading to university at 17 and a half.
I'm not sure what the situation would be if primary 1 is full. You could try getting this moved to scotsnet and it might get someone with more knowledge than me.

Thanks for the advice. I talked to the glasgow council again and it seems that I have no choice.
