I doubt anyone will remember, but this forum was an absolute lifesaver when Mini Papermover started school. She’d totally zoned out due to the methods used to teach reading. I got lots of amazing advice on here I think Tiggy, MaizieD and Mrz, and it was transformative and life changing.

Mini Papermover is now not so mini and has just aced her GCSES and got a place in sixth form to study the subjects she loves. Aced as in blimey, that’s amazing, not all MN 9s.

She likes reading books about pop music and graphic novels And books with great covers-Goodbye to Berlin, Graham greene, Lolitta. She hates Pride and Prejudice and never wants to read Shakespeare ever again. Orwell, she is prepared to try again but later, much later.

Thank you!

I'm glad she is doing really well! She is lucky to obviously have a really supportive mum too.

I remember those days and their posts about phonics and reading. (I've had many name changes since then).

Well done to your DD on doing so well and getting a place in the 6th form.

I am good, thank you ☺️ Still teaching and loving it. Not loving academisation, but it is what it is!
