Hello,

Is anyone else preparing for 7+ exams? Does anyone have any advice on what expected level we should be aiming for for WUS and Latymer?

DD is very bright, and teachers tell us she should be fine, but it's hard to know. She uses Doodle, which suggests she is working at around Yr 3 level in Maths & English.

We've also just started using Atom, which is suggesting she is behind where she needs to be in Maths for WUS at 7+, but I can't tell how accurate this is likely to be given Atom seems more geared towards 11+. She has also done some 7+ mock tests on Atom which are giving low SAS scores for her (including an 80 for Maths which seems mad given that would indicate she is below average for her age?). Anyone have any insights in how to accurate Atom's predicted levels are?

Finally, we're doing 10 minute tests at 7-8 level. She is doing well on the VR,NVR and English at this level, but Maths is a bit hit and miss. Obviously going to work on her Maths some more, but is this level enough, or does she need to be getting high scores on 8-9 tests really?

Sorry, I thought this was going to be a maths question.

OP, Atom doesn't know that this is the first year that WUS are accepting dd for 7+, I expect the school doesn't know what level of maths they are looking for to ensure a gender balanced intake. Best to go into the process with an open mind as it's all so new.

Seems very quiet this year unless I've missed other threads on this topic. My son is preparing for the 7+ with the KCJS exam being the first one in a month's time.

Currently going through lots of mocks and daily prep - quite stressful tbh and this seems to be the case with quite a few of his classmates as well.

Hi @Mummyrobot ,
Can I ask how you got on with atom/WUS. I am applying for the 2026/2027 WUS 7+ intake, and found out that my son was score 82-85 on the 7+ test on atom! Do you know the level required for the bond 10 minute test. I have read somewhere 80%+ on age 8-9 is "competitive".
