So, my daughter was offered a place at a school to start this September, however we have heard of some issues with the school so considering reapplying for a different school that I know only has one space available, I haven’t fully made up my mind until we view the school later this week but I’m worried the place will be filled!
does anyone know if I reapply now, will it revoke the place we’ve already been offered? Please help I’m so stressed😩

No, it won’t remove the place you have already been allocated. However, it may not be actioned until the start of the new term. You need to get in touch with your council admissions team to ask.

Thank you! Schools haven’t broken up yet where we are, I’ve emailed the school and admissions team to ask so will hopefully have a response tomorrow

We did it - we dodged a bullet as the school originally allocated would NOT have been a good place for DD2's SEND. It meant things were a bit more stressful in terms of not having as much transition visits etc, and the place wasn't fully confirmed until after schools had broken up, so we had to be ready to jump into the phased start (thankfully short and not very phased) with only the couple of days inset at the start of the year prep time to get fully organised but it worked out well for DD2.

we changed reception place late too and only got the place over the summer issued by the local authority, as schools were off i was only able to get in touch with them on the 1st day of school in september and could only hear about start dates then and fill in all the necessary forms etc.

when the new school was offered the other school offer was automatically revoked (as the new school was higher up on preference list) but it wont be revoked until the new one is offered. this may vary by local authority though.
