Examples of writing for 3 different children. I'm curious as to your opinions.

How is their reading?
for the first and third example I think you could focus on reading high quality texts so their language choices improve. The y5 child writing is very simple and talk like (although I accept it’s a diary entry so less formal).

For 1&2 they have excellent reading abilities.

For the child who did piece 3 we really struggle to get any reading done due to the PDA. Sometimes comics are read.

Well first of all i think who ever the kids are they have done really really well.
On the age i cant say im in my 30s and im no better.
Top of my head 8-10.
All kids writing is different all we can do is praise them for their efforts not judge them.

How can you possibly say that without knowing their ages?

If they’re 15 it’s appalling!

Im not going to run any child or teen down for how their writing looks.

Thank you, you are right we should be praising effort as well as achievement. Some children have barriers to achieving writing targets. We are definitely experiencing those here.

I have this issue with writing mine is not perfect. But i see from time to time that some kids are under pressure to do better than they can.
And its wrong to make a child think they didnt do well enough.

Yes that's absolutely correct. Some do really struggle. It's a pity there is a lack of support too: I have been fighting for so long.
