Can I ask should I have done anything about this and if it is discrimination
on return from Mat leave to primary after being eyfs lead and teacher for many years (8). My job description reads this. I Was told I was moving out and to a different year group. The reasons were ‘I can’t expect you to do all that with a baby’. ‘returning to School from Mat leave is difficult..’
basically I said for me I’m ready to return after a year off and express starting a new KS would not help my return and cause more stress. Anyways was told my replacement was staying.
I was moved out and they made up a role in SMT for me that did not exist before this.
I emailed to drop my management as I had no interest or desire outside of eyfs!
The EYFS lead job has now been advertised internally with only 24hours notice for people to apply. Bear in mind I was not given the opportunity to apply before being told I was staying in the year group they placed me in.
I have since expressed my disappointment in the school and how they’ve treated me.
I feel like having my child has ruined my career and I can’t see how I can get back to early years lead now. Feeling very down that I must have done a rubbish job and it’s knocked my confidence.
I returned to work in September, but the role has just been advertised.
does anyone else think this is Maternity discrimination??
