In year school change

We are moving to a new area to be closer to family and all the schools within the area are full. There are schools 15min drive but we both work full time and the journey back from those schools will be 30mins plus with traffic which just isn’t possible with us having to get the train to town.
What happens in this situation? Will we be able to appeal saying we can’t travel? Or will they provide transport (they’re only 5yo so we don’t want this) any advice from people who have done similar please.
It’s a popular area, so whilst we are on wait lists it’s unlikely we’ll get a place and current school is 1-1.5hrs each way

All the school has to be is 'within reasonable distance'
Transport problems won't be considered in an appeal. Particularly when they relate to parent transport needs.
If the school offered wasn't on your preferences and is further than 2 miles away then the local authority would offer transport, again, it's not their issue that you dont wish to use it.
As it stands, you also have the fact that it would be an infant class size appeal, which only normally succeeds if an error in the allocation process has been made.
If the local authority has allocated a place and you refuse it, be aware that they have discharged their duty and don't have to find an alternative.
Surely a school place and a shorter travelling time than you have now is better than not having a place at all?

Thank you I appreciate the answer, I have no experience of this so wanted to know what would happen. To be honest the journey wouldn’t be that different by the time we factor in traffic and us then getting to work (current school is closer to London) so it’s whether we go on a wait list and stay at current school or not. I think there’s a faith school that take out of faith that may have space so I’ll explore that
