Anyone else surprised about the maths sats scaled score ?

4 marks up from last year ????

My DD has just come home with her results, what does it mean, they thought it was easier than last year?

I’m being really thick here but what does this mean?

The raw score is 4 marks up or what?

Sorry I meant the scale score
so to get 100 on the scale score they needed 4 more marks than what was needed last year

last year was 54 out of 100 and this year 58 out of 100.

Is it that the questions were easier or has this cohort just done better than last year? Perhaps they had less of a covid penalty?

Realised soon after you posted.

Not that my son counts for most of the country, but he seemed to think it was easier.
He said it was easier than mock papers they’d done from previous years.
No idea if they did last years though.
At least 4 of his friends I know said the same as well.

my daughter teacher said they believed the comprehension was the hardest but even that went up by one mark to reach 100

All this means is the bell curve has shuffled up 4 marks. From what I've heard, the arithmetic paper was really quite straightforward, and the first reasoning paper was similar. However, the second paper was really quite challenging. It will be interesting when more data becomes available.
