Primary Schools in Kew & Richmond area?

We’re an international family and found Darell Primary to be the best decision we made after moving to the area. It’s a smaller school with amazing long-serving teachers who know every child. The atmosphere is warm, diverse and supportive.
Our child is thriving with hands-on learning, no pressure, and real progress. Wraparound care is great too. If you want a friendly, inclusive school in Kew or Richmond that’s flying under the radar, visit Darell. Wanted to share this here as unfortunately the perception of Darell hasn't been the best in decades past but it's well worth a visit to see yourself.

Darell is amazing! When I moved to the UK, I didn’t know anything about the education system here, so I asked many people for advice. A religious school was out of the question for us. Although some people—who had never even visited Darell—didn't recommend it at first, probably due to some past reputation or prejudice, I heard wonderful and emotional feedback from my daughter’s nursery teachers at Windham and from former Darell students who were happy to share their positive experiences.

If I had any doubts, they disappeared during the Open Day. The school environment felt warm and joyful. The headteacher was extremely enthusiastic and approachable, but what truly melted my heart was when the Year 6 students came to show us around and answer our questions. I had the chance to ask them if they were happy at Darell, what they were learning, and what their routine was like. The way they spoke about their school, with such passion and pride, made my decision easy: Darell became my first and only choice.

My daughter started in Reception and is now finishing Year 4. I’m incredibly proud of her progress and development in English, Maths, Science, Art, Music, and more.

Darell isn’t officially an international school, but it feels like one. There are families from all over the world, speaking languages I hadn’t even heard of before! During the International Celebration, families brought food from their home countries, and I understood—through taste and culture—what diversity really means. And it’s beautiful.

Darell has this special magic: every child feels welcome. It offers a nurturing and inclusive environment, academic excellence, a rich and stimulating curriculum, brilliant and kind pupils, and a dedicated and passionate staff, making our life in the UK so much easier. My daughter is a happy child, and Darell is a happy school.

YES! After visiting quite a few schools around the Kew and Richmond area, we’ve finally settled on Darell Primary—and we’ll be starting this September! The Headteacher really stood out to us—he's incredibly involved and passionate about the school, which made a big impression.
The tour was lovely; we were especially struck by how confidently the older children spoke about their experiences—there’s clearly a strong sense of community and pride in the school.
We’re an international family, and it was great to see that there are quite a few others as well, which made us feel even more welcome. We’re feeling really confident we’ve made the right choice!
