Hi Mumsnetters,
I hope you had a lovely morning. Does anyone know good one to one swimming lessons for kids(about age 7-10yrs old)around Wimbledon or Kingston area? Or intensive kids swimming lessons in summer holiday? Many thanks!

Regards
Ellen

My dc swims with Nautilus Swimming. They offer private or semi private lessons and the coaches are incredible! They use pools in private schools in a few West London schools. My DC swims at Brook Green but on their website it says they offer lessons at Wimbledon High. In the school holidays they run private, intensive lessons in the Latymer Upper pool and also swim camps (my dc has done both but now a strong swimmer prefers the camps.) Can't recommend them highly enough. www.nautilusswimming.com

Try SwimWay. I don't think they cover Kingston but they may go as far as Wimbledon ( they have a few sites over SW London). However, most of their pools are small and geared up to younger kids and non swimmers, so might not work if you have tall kids or are looking to improve rather than learn. For slightly older kids, like my 8 year old, they have a larger pool (relatively speaking) in East Sheen.

Dolphin Swim Academy runs 1:1 intensives during the school holidays (not sure about term time regular classes). They have three different venues in Wimbledon, Mitcham and Morden.

We've been doing the baby swimming groups for years over two DC and the team is really lovely.

Edit to add: i just double checked the website and I can't see any 1:1 online, although I've definitely had emails about it in the past. So might be worth emailing them directly to check the situation for this year.

I heard this Dolphin Swim before. Seems lots of praises from parents. I will contact them to confirm it. Thank you so much MitchamMum. Have a great weekend!

Both my Children use Sports Generation. They are based locally (have three pools in Kingston I believe) and run camps in the summer holidays and during term time. They offer individual lessons in private pools nearby that are used by a lot of kids at local private schools.

We've been with them for 3 years and they've been absolutely fab so far. My kids love the coaches.

Over a 4yr period we have tried dolphin swim academy wimbledon, nuffield wimbledon, nuffield wandsworth (burr road) and better gym south wimbledon for our DSs who are now 7 and 5. Neither of them can swim 5m independently. Looking for an alternative where children who have water confidence but lack technique can progress.
