Admissions cock up

We recently found we are moving, but it was after the admissions deadline for our area for reception so my daughter currently has a place for the school near us (which son goes to). The area we are moving to has a different process with a second round of admissions which closed in May. No option for me to change the application so I had to ask our council to submit the preferences to the other authority and they confirmed they had done so by the deadline. Not heard anything so contacted authority we are moving to and they said no application had been received. Everytime I contact each authority they tell me a different thing, I have no idea whether anything has been submitted, no idea where my daughter will be going for school and am stuck unable to make an in year application for my son until I know the position with my daughter. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks a very stressed out mum

I’m not sure why your LA submitted your preferences rather than you making a direct late application - I’m probably missing something!
I think you will just have to make an application now and see what they can offer.

This is what the other admissions authority told me to do. They had two rounds of applications but as our round of applications had closed in the one I'm in I could not submit a new application so I had to ask our LA to do so

You must always apply to the LA where you live. OP cannot apply direct to the new LA until they have moved.

@RFinley - It certainly sounds like something has gone wrong here. There probably isn't much you can do at this stage other than keep chasing the LAs. However, if this mix up results in you missing out on a place you should have been offered, you will have a strong case for appeal.

Yep unable to put an application in myself now so at the mercy of my LA. Apparently it looks like they didn't put the application in to the new authority by the required date (despite my request to do so and being well within time for them to do so). It's all by telephone though so I've now asked for written confirmation as to when they sent across the info and asked for any reference numbers etc.
