John lewis cotton uniform dresses - anyone got one?

And if so, has it shrunk and how much?

After one wash at 40 the dress I got for DD last week is about 80% of its former size. I have never seen anything cotton shrink so much in one go.

I will obviously return it, but just wondered if this was a one-off? Any experiences?

I have had many cotton summer dresses from here over the past 5 years and none have ever shrunk at 40 degrees. Although last and this year I bought from BHS and they have shrunk! Sorry hope that helps.

I bought 2 at John Lewis this year. One is fine (the traditional looking one with the ties at the back). The other one (very straightforward looking!) does not seem to have kept its shape or texture after a couple of washes.

My JL ones with the tie at the back have been fine too. In fact I'm really pleased with them.

My M&S zip up polo shirts for DS, on the other hand. Wow did they shrink!

yes lizi my zip polos shrank too.

They were fair trade ones so I wanted them to be OK.

Took them all back and got next size up (which also shrank but it was OK as too big anway). Annoying tho.
