Bracknell Schools

Hi! This is my first time posting on mumsnet so hope this is ok to ask...I was wondering if anyone had experience of primary schools in Bracknell? I'm moving there this summer with three primary aged children (Reception, Y3 and Y5) and the council have said there are currently spaces in these schools: Kings Academy, Birch Hill and Wild Ridings. Would love to hear what they're like if anyone knows. Thanks!

Sorry correction, it's Meadow Vale rather than Kings Academy that has space.

Hi! I am on the boat as you were a few months ago. I am moving to Bracknell in a few weeks, and the only schools available are far from us, and most of them are academy converters. Can I ask which school you went to in the end? Birch Hill is on the list the council gave me today.

Hey @Candela Exciting about your move to Bracknell! We're loving it here. My kids have ended up at Meadow Vale and we're living in Priestwood so it's v convenient- a 5min walk. I went and looked round Birch Hill before we came and had a tour with the head and thought it looked lovely. What years are you looking for spaces in?

Oh that lovely to hear! I don't know much the area but the visits we made before deciding to move were very positive and we had a good feeling. We are moving to Harman's water area. So ideally I would send my year 1 child to the school there. Harman's water primary school or Crown wood are good options. I don't drive so that's a limitation as well. Today I had a talk with the council and the recommendation was to put her in a school that is convenient in terms of commuting and then put her on the waitlist for the other 2. Have you heard anything about Sandy Lane? Xx

Ah that's frustrating for you. We've moved around quite a lot and my experience is that things are always a bit of a headache re schools and sound worse on paper before you move compared to the reality once you're on the ground. Things can shift quickly with schools so I hope that happens for you. Haven't heard anything about Sandy Lane I'm afraid. Will PM you my number if you want to get in touch about anything else!
