Schools near coulsdon

Hi , I would like to know best schools near Coulsdon for primary level students

Private or state? What ages, as popular schools likely full.

There’s no such thing as an a generic best school, only the school that you think would be best for your child.

All the primary schools in the Coulsdon area are well thought of and all are oversubscribed so it depends on where you live. On the Coulsdon Town side Woodcote is the largest. Chipstead Valley is also large and very popular so unless you live close to it, you are unlikely to get in. Smitham is three form entry and also very popular. In Old Coulsdon there is Keston School which is extremely popular. Bradmore Green CoE School is single for entry and has the smallest footprint with no field. Oasis Academy Byron is also single form entry and has a large outdoor area. My ideal would be Smitham because my understanding is that the Head is very present and not stuck in her office all the time.

The best thing to do is to contact a schools you are interested in and ask for a tour first. If you’re doing an in year application, I think it would be very pot luck as to which school you’d get. There won’t be multiple places available in each year group.

we are looking for state schools and my daughter will be starting reception this September.? Is it difficult to get admissions after start of reception?

Your application would be treated as late so the more popular schools will already be full with waiting lists. Places are due to be confirmed next week, so you would be allocated whereever there is a vacancy, either now or after the start of Reception. Chipstead Valley is well regarded but you may end up further away, possibly in one of the villages.
