Hello,

First of all, apologies in advance if I’m posting in the wrong section, but it’s my first time posting here.

My family and I are looking into moving to Petts Wood, Bromley. We have Daughter currently at reception in another borough.

I’ve been reading a lot about the local offers for primary schools, and managed to get feedback from most schools around Petts Wood but nothing recent about Southborough Primary School… only very old threads.

could anyone share some feedback about that school? I understand it’s not as popular as the other options, but we might still consider it just in case.

thank you in advance

I have friends with children there. They have no complaints.

i Know it seems a long way away and don't know how long you're likely to want to stay in that one house, but be aware that Petts Wood is a bit of an oasis with regards to secondary schools. Unless you're in the Darrick wood catchment (which is pretty small), you may struggle. Darrick Wood primary school is also very good.

We will be renting for the time being, so hopefully that will give us time to figure out what are the best places to get into a good secondary school. Thanks a lot for your feedback, I supposed that Petts Wood would be well served with Sec Schools given that the primaries are all quite good 😣
Do you mind sharing what are the no-go ones or the nice ones? In your perspective?

also, any feedback about Southborough?

thank you so much

I don’t believe there is anything wrong with Southborough, it depends on fit. Some love Crofton and would prefer that if a place came up as it has so many resources and units, some consider it too large.

For secondary things are improving in Petts Wood with lower birth rate years starting to filter through. There are a wide range of local, Kent and Bexley grammars. For non-selectives Boys have got into popular Ravenswood for as long as I can remember. Darrick Wood has gone further into Petts Wood this year on offer day than it has even by end of summer in previous years.
