Thoughts on Gateway, Great Missenden

Dd1 has gone to local state Junior school (currently Y5) and we have been disappointed and frustrated with the standard of teaching, opportunities, heavy religious component etc (Infant state school was fab!). Considering sending Dd2 to Gateway School this September for Y3 entry. Looking for current views of the school, especially as the new Head is starting so perhaps a bit of an unknown.

Our overall goal is to have best shot at 11plus, for local Grammar schools from Y7. We're wishing we could turn back clock and not send Dd1 to local Juniors, knowing what we know now, and are worried about treating the kids differently in terms of state vs private!

Not really considering other privates such as Chesham due to distance, we want Dd2 to have local friends. Cost is also a factor, as we are considering private secondary for Dd1 if she fails 11plus.

So the decision is, do we send Dd2 to Gateway, or stick with Juniors with additional tutoring where needed... Is Gateway worth the investment?

Note, we will tutor for 11plus regardless, reference to tutoring above would be in addition to 11plus focus. We've had to do this already for Dd1 as teaching at Juniors has not been great in our opinion.

Thanks!
