Hi

My Y5 child recently did CAT4 tests at school but I’m struggling to interpret the results

For example, for Verbal they got SAS 119, NPR 90, ST 8, GR(/106) =57

I think it is marked out of 160 so they got 119 out of 160? And NPR is percentile so they were 90th percentile? Why is ST not 9 then? And what on earth is GR(/106)??

Thanks

SAS is standard age score, 100 is the mean score and they’d a standard deviation of 15, so the ‘average range’ is 85-115 and 64% of kids will score in this range. ST is stanine score and I can’t remember the details on this..

I think GR is group ranking, could there be 106 in her year?

Essetially though she’s in top 10% compared with kids her age nationally.

Thanks so much for replying

yes, there could be 106 in the year. But would you expect someone that is top 10% to come 57th out of 106? I guess it could be a very high performing (state) school?
