Unauthorised absence

I put a form in for a day off for my son for a day out with family. It was rejected and will go down as unauthorised which is fine. We will still take him. This is in a few weeks time. What happens now can we still take him and the school are aware he’s off or do I still phone on the day?!

I would phone on the day and leave a message just in case they forget.

At our school, you wouldn’t need to report the absence on the day. It’s worth checking the policy on issuing fines for unauthorised absences as the school will know you’re on a day out.
Other than that, I wouldn’t expect anything at all to happen.

I would send an email the night before if it is a way off, just to remind them.
