What is this thing with Yr 4 "SATs"?

Because my DD's class is doing them and they are being externally marked. Have to admit there is no pressure on the children - they are taking them with a big pinch of salt thankfully.

Why is this?

Year 4 'optional' SATs are not usually marked externally, so if yours are, I'd guess is either part of some pilot scheme, or possibly there's some kind of local arrangement to swap papers among schools.

Thankyou rusty. I did wonder if it was because the school was in special measures...but I have a feeling this happened with my DS#1 2 years ago as well.
