Sen and tutoring

DD is 7 and is on the pathway for diagnosis. The school (who have been brilliant) think inattentive ADHD.

DD is wonderful, works hard, extremely well behaved, socially successful.

But always tracking a little behind academically, she finds writing and reading hard and translating her thoughts into written work.

She does best when she is working with the teacher directly (and they do a lot of this 1-1 support in lessons).

I think a tutor would help but when and how long each week? She doesn't want to do school work outside school although she's keen on learning.

Should I wait until she's a bit older? Or until she's motivated to learn outside school (if that ever happens).

Would school let me pay for a tutor in school hours?

Any thoughts very gratefully received

If you're near Bristol, York, Durham or Oxford then it's worth talking to the school about signing up for Students 4 Students | Welcome | Children's Tutoring Charity. They send tutors in (for free, it's a charity so all of their services are completely free) during the school day to help students like your dd.

That would be perfect! But we are in London....

Action Tutoring looks similar. They primarily work with schools that have large numbers of disadvantaged students but will still welcome enquiries from those that don't meet this criteria Partner as a school - Action Tutoring : Action Tutoring
