As per title, talk me down from the ledge please.

DS got his transfer result last week, band 6. So not great. the maths ones he answered 9 correctly in the first and 16 in the 2nd. We werent aiming for grammar school anyway, it was about doing the work for it regardless as i was under impression it would help set him up for moving into year 8 in september. (we are in NI so our year 7 is year 6 in england.)
Ive spent all week stressing as BIL has said DS maths is at a level of yr5 and that he hasnt been taught properly. Meanwhile his CAT score for maths at end of yr 6 was 102, with 111 for literacy (english/irish) Do i have anything to be worried about? Ive spoken to a lady who tutors locally and very busy getting lots of children ready. I asked her how the irish primary ones compare with the rest of them and she says they are on par with everyone else and that there is nothing wrong with how their school is teaching maths. She did also say the SEAG tests are a terrible way to assess a childs maths ability and she would never dream of assessing a child off that test. I was in with the principal for a chat on monday and she says theres nothing to worry about, she gave me the CAT scores from last assessment. If there was any issues with his learning etc would that show up in those tests or could he have been getting by unnoticed? Am i panicking over nothing?
