She’s in year 4. expected level reports.
secondary schools are awful in my area, education wise, awful children, awful teachers, they just all have a bad rep with the exception of a couple that are way out of catchment.
The grammar schools are the good ones.
im not bothered if she falls to the bottom to the class if/when she gets there, I can talk her round too, it’s not the end of the world. In the end it’s up to her what she chooses to do with her life.
I just want her to be in a good environment with decent children/teachers whose focus is on education.
What do you think

Realistically, only do it if you’re prepared to work with her to prepare thoroughly. Either yourself, or using a tutor. If she’s working at expected, she’s doing great but unlikely to pass. With practice, she’ll have a greater chance of success.

Depends ob the school really as in high achieving primary the kid could be getting met when somewhere else they would be exceeding.
My eldest only ever got met at maths but gkt exceeding on sats and so exceedi ng on y6 report. The teacher didnt think it possible.
however mine had been clearly underachieving.

do some of the appropriate 11+ tests and see how she goes.
the deman d may be higher due to the VAT on private.

meeting expectations is a huge range from in y4 probavly just starting on chapter books to reading a book a week od reading age years ahead.

im finding the homework set at state secondary (non grammar) rubbish.
--we get almost only revision!
--Theyve got the test dates wrong several times. Other times if the teacher is away they dont have the test (and not done later). But what is the point in a tes t if they havent revised.
-several kids with sen not getting the extratime on tests.
