Hi, we are moving to Birmingham and have enrolled our daughter in Edgebaston senior high for April 2025. Can anyone recommend a school for our 8 year old son that is fairly close by?

Do you mean Edgbaston High School? In their senior school?

So you need a yr 3 place for your 8yr old?
Yr 4 in September?

Are you wanting private or state? I would imagine you don’t have a cats in Hell chance in a state primary having a place.
But god loves a trier.

You’ll be looking for an in year transfer, the form is on the Birmingham LA website. I’d apply for everyone you can get too and cross your fingers.

Thank you for your reply. And yes it would be year three.

Bluecoat and Hallfield are the obvious ones if independent is on the cards. You could also look at West House. Not sure about places though.

Hi OP. What sort of area will you be moving to? And are you looking for state or private options? Is somewhere close-ish to EHS preferable, given Brum traffic?

Thank you, I will look into those schools mentioned. Our son currently attends a Catholic school. So are happy to continue with that or go to a public or a private school.
Somewhere close to ESH would probably be easier as that's where our daughter will be going. We really like the Bourneville area too.

You could also look at Priory school in Edgbaston which is Catholic. You have 3 good state primaries in Bournville but they are very oversubscribed. Getting from Bournville to Edgbaston could be tricky in the traffic depends on work commitments etc. Your ideal is probably to have them both in Edgbaston schools and look at houses in Edgbaston, Harborne, Selly Park or possibly Moseley depending on budget

Thanks everyone
