How do you communicate with the SENCO?

My children have both been flagged about potentially have additional needs. The SENCO seems to communicate through the teachers: the teachers will pass on a message to me at pick up time or via class dojo, I will reply and wait for the SENCO’s response via the teachers, which can be within 24 hours or a week.
The SENCO doesn’t give out her email address or telephone number so any contact needs to be through the teachers or I need to to leave a message at the school office and wait for her reply.
Anyone else’s experiences different?

I email her directly , or catch her in person as the senior leadership team are all out on the gate and visible to parents each morning and afternoon. She also has bookable slots everything Thursday.

Ours is available directly- email readily available on website. Also hosts monthly drop in session for parents.

a lot of it will depend on how stretched they are. This senco is full time in a school of 150-200 students. Our previous school shared senco across multiple schools in the academy and it was much much harder to get in touch with them.
