Reception application

I hope I'm over thinking as usual.

Completed an application form for my son to start reception via the school (Catholic school and that is the process) more or less straight away. Was advised to still Complete application through local authority which I did and put another school as a back up. Submitted application then realised I should of included the school I already applied for on the application as My first choice. Went amend to include that school (day of closing date and before cut off) but kept getting an error message "problem with your request please try again" kept happening and still happening now when just trying to review application. I did email admissions team explaining this (before the closing time) stating preference and that it wouldn't let me amend details. Do you think when I call they will honour it and take on board preference or will they now class it as a late application. Just really regretting applying through LA and worrying now that will take my first choice as the back up school and not consider my seperate application as where I really want him to go. I know can ring them Monday but I just know i will be worrying til I speak to someone. Thank you

Thought deadline was 15th?

I'm in Wales so ours was the 9th.

I would post on the Welsh board - here (NI) you can only apply through the central system and nothing goes to the school. Sounds like a very different system so you'll need advice from someone who is familiar with it.

So you didn't include the school you want your child to go to on your LA application?

I'd try to ring on Monday, to ask someone...

Ahhh I didn't realise there was a seperate board. Thank you.

In England you’d still need to put the Catholic school as your first choice with the LA. You can’t just apply directly to the school. I appreciate this may differ in Wales.

I amended my daughter’s application through the admissions team as we’d moved house. A slightly different scenario, but they were great and updated it all for me. I’d phone on Monday to clarify.

I had already applied to my first choice separately (as that's the process here) so just put another school as a back up on the LA application, then realised I should of included the school I already applied for so went to amend (on line) before cut off and it just kept giving me error message 😔

In wales we can just apply directly to the school and don't have to apply through local authority but you here about children not getting a space so just wanted to ensure he I applied else where. I hoping as it's early on in the process and given that it wasn't letting amend after I realised my error (before the cut off) and I have informed them of the issue they will honour it and amend when I speak to them on Monday.
