Sorry... My list is from a webpage too... But I cannot find the link. I thought it was saved as a bookmark somewhere...

I need a nap!

Cadmum · 03/05/2008 12:43

Here it is: www.resourceroom.net/readspell/wordlists/last3sylltypes/irwords.asp There are other lists here as well as many great resources.

mckenzie · 03/05/2008 14:56

thanks very much Cadmum. I think perhaps I need to look at my search engine as when I searched first thing this morning on the internet I didn't come up with anything like you and Nonickname have shown me.

What exactly does the homework ask for? Usually for spelling it would be looking at phonemes so you shouldn't include words like fire & fair because although they contain ir the phonemes are ire & air.

mckenzie · 03/05/2008 18:49

exactly mrz, I should have explained that at the beginning. But DS has enjoyed looking at all the words given here and saying them out loud and deciding if they qualify for the list so it's all been worthwhile.
He gets a list each week with about 5/6 words on it and then the idea is to add some new ones each day. For some reason this week we have struggled hence the request for help from Mumsnet

mckenzie: I am currently homeschooling so I have many such pages saved in bookmarks. I am glad it helped.
DH thinks that I have a 'google gift' because I can always find the most elusive (useless) info.
