well today in assembly she got the prize for hardest working child. most beautifully presented work. and she came running out of school to show me - right in front of the other mums

i know its childish of me to be smug and happy it was in front of them but i dont care

and 2 of the other girls came running over "well done for getting the prize"

You were concerned she wasn't fitting in with the other girls, weren't you? It sounds like both the school and the other children are responding to her just fine - you're allowed to be smug and happy!

The fact those girls congratulated her was fantastic, there are obviously some lovely kind generous children in that school. no wonder your DD was so laid back with her own personality, she has supportive and kind people around her.

Are you going to reinforce with a treat at home? We used to let them choose something nice to do at the weekend if they got a merit award - swimming trip or friend round to play sort of thing.
