So undecided on what school to put as first choice?!

Afternoon all! So my covid baby will be starting Reception September 2025! I am so undecided between Christ the Saviour in Ealing (W5) and Montpelier (W5). I think we're in the "catchment" for both, although a lot closer to Montpelier. After visiting both schools, I just decide which is a better school. Looking for great academics but also the best for the arts and sports! my boy is incredibly athletic so that's mega important. All threads on here about these schools are years and years old. Wondering if anyone has any recent experiences, knowledge or anything that can help us decide what to put as our 1st choice. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance x

You might want to put a bit more info in your title!
I know nothing about either school but if you really can't decide just go for the closest- very good to be able to walk to primary school.
I wouldn't worry about the sport too much. Most kids at London primaries tend to do most of their sport outside school. He may not end up being particularly sporty anyway- hard to tell at age 3 or 4!

Can you walk to either? Both?
Where do all the neighbour's kids go?
Which one has the wraparound care you need?
Primary sport is unlikely to cater to an incredibly athletic child. Focus on finding out of school clubs for that.

I don’t live in London. I choose a primary school that did lots of extras, school trips, church, has specialist come in for tasters of different sports, forest school, all things that make school fun as they are there a lot. Also happy staff because that makes for a lovely atmosphere.

Do you have a local mums' forum in W5 where you could hear reports from parents wth children at both schools? How long have the heads been at the schools? Schools tend to be only as good as their leadership. How do you feel about a faith based education? I assume you have visited both schools. Which had more art on the walls, more sports trophies on display? Lastly, where are his nursery friends going? Always good to start at a school with a friend.

I would go for whichever you can walk to quickest. However which category of church attendance do you come under for Christ the Savior? They have multiple categories ranging from 2 years history of weekly CofE attendance and in-depth involvement with church activities and community, to a shorter history of twice-a-month attendance at a non CofE churcg, with about 6 gradual categories in between.

Christ the Saviour vs Montpelier primary school in Ealing? Which one is better for academics and sports?

@SFBrown this is a national/International forum. The likelihood of a mumsnet user who actually knows the level of detail you want about these two specific schools happening to click on this thread when there's not even a location in the thread title is close to zero. You can get have some general advice on how to choose here, from people who know little about the schools of W5 but a lot about school application choices. You would get more useful info on a local parents forum on Facebook.

I’m curious what you chose in the end :) I’d recommend Montpelier based on what I’ve heard about both school (we live in Ealing)
