Applying for primary schools

i need to apply for my child’s school place ready for next year. I recently had to take her out of her private nursery due to them being careless with allergies. I have since gotten her into a school nursery, which is close to my family for support so they can help with the pick up etc. (it is around 2miles from home). I am really impressed with the school and it’s the primary school I went to as a child.
my question is for the application I need to submit 4 schools. So only one would be in the area that we don’t live in and this would be our first choice. Any advice on submitting the application as ideally I would like her to stay where she is so she can go up with the children from nursery. Thank you ☺️

There is no magic trick. Put your favourite school in first place, but do fill the other places with other schools- you need at least one, even if it's the last one on the form, you will be confident of getting.a place in. Doing so makes no difference to your chances of getting first one.

Not much you can do, the criteria are usually pretty clear and there's not really any way round them. If that's the school you'd prefer, put it at first choice and hope for the best. Look around your local schools and try to fine other options that would be OK if you don't get your first choice, then rank them in your order of preference.

Make sure you use all your options. Only putting one school will not make you any more likely to get it but will mean if you don't get it, you'll be allocated whatever left.

Your chance of getting in isn't affected by if you list a school first or fourth, so put the schools in your true order of preference.
