good primaries in NW London

Hi there,
I am looking for a good primary- pre prep for my DD. She is currently in a private school- it is deemed to be hot housey but she seems very happy so far.Learning a lot and good pastoral care and support from teachers. Her sister is in nursery and also happy (although unsure how academic one can get with finger painting anyway).
My issue with the school is that although lovely so far, they have very few opportunities -if any- to do any after school clubs, music, sports etc, making the weekends fairly busy (and the days long )
I am also unsure I am that keen to put my daughters into the 7+rat race.
What would one pick in North London for an academic but nurturing school, with good clubs and activities - music in particular.
I have visited recently a state school in Highgate and their music offering was much more impressive than most local private schools I can find in Hampstead.
Ideally a school that also has a French club/French lessons.

Thank you

For private have you looked at The Village, Sarum Hall, St Mary’s , Heathside etc? There is also Ivy House. For state, well it depends where you are exactly…

We did visit St Mary's last year which we felt was a bit too holy (nothing wrong with that obviously but we are not catholic).
I have heard good things about Sarum hall although cant seem to find that much information here.
For state schools I agree- it will be the great lottery so we'll see what we get (if any)

You'll need to give us a better idea of where you are? Borough?

Cavendish in NW1 has excellent music (individual music lessons during school hours, orchestra, choir and Year 6 band), French is taught weekly by a native speaker from Nursery. Ballet taught to all girls during the school day. Lots of extracurriculars - swim squad, gymnastics squad, chess, LAMDA, yoga, Muay Thai, pottery, cooking, dance, running, netball. It has a Catholic foundation but isn't very religious now.

Oh that sounds lovely thank you. I do tend to see children with the Cavendish uniform on the tube with their parents but don't know the school at all- will look into it!

Does anyone have a view on how Cavendish and Sarum hall compare to St Christophers?
