My DS is 3 in October 08, he currently goes to nusery 3 mornings a week that I pay for, he can stay until he is about 4 (I think)
When do they start school full time and is that recption or year 1?
Also when do you apply for a place?
Sorry if this seems a bit thick but I am confused

they start school the September after they are 4

so you've got a little while to go yet

Tommy · 28/04/2008 21:55

you will get a letter from the Education Authority the September before he is due to go

My DD will be 3 in September and she will start school full time in September 2010, when she is very nearly 5. Assuming you are in England, your DS is likely to start at the same time. They will be in Reception.

You apply through the year before and find out about whether you have a place at varying times between December (where we live) to late April I think.

Your DS will have 5 free sessions at nursery from January 2009.

Generally speaking they start in the term in which they will turn 5, but some schools will take them earlier.

depends where you are in the UK I guess

(the school DD will go to takes them from the term after they are 4, mornings only, for two terms, but that is just that school)

Thank you all!! Looks like I've a while yet before I need to start worrying about saying bye bye at the school gate! Thank goodness!
Thanks again
