Hi,

im looking at moving my son to my daughters school as they’ve opened the preschool full time. They have sent me the timetable and they do a ‘lunch club’ which I need to pay £27.50 for per week. Can this be covered by UC? As it’s not just food it’s an hour of childcare that I need to pay.. just wondering as I can’t find anything online about it.

You said the nursery, so I’m assuming it’s to pay for dinner staff as the government sessions don’t cover that cost , just a morning or afternoon session, and the school can’t afford to pick up the missing childcare bill - it’s only lasts while the children are in the nursery, once you get to reception year the school covers that.

I suppose it will depend on wether you are working, and so need the care paying for?

best thing to do is put a note on the universal credit journal and see if they can answer it better .
