Can anyone offer any current thoughts on St Mary’s School, Gerrards Cross or RMS?
We are looking towards Year 5 entry for our DD with a view to running through to senior - we live in a grammar area but that’s not going to be the right fit for us. Keen to hear how people find the nurturing/academic balance.

RMS is much bigger so has more after school clubs and more choice of friends etc. St Mary’s is smaller, but has a reputation to be a bit more nurturing.
You’ll know when you look round them which is the right fit. They’re very different.

The prep at RMS is quite small compared to the senior school. Very warm and nurturing. RMS is known for its nurturing and inclusive ethos. They pride themselves on adapting to the individual to ensure each girl reaches their potential. It is a very large school so is a bit of a shock/adjustment at first, but as a result there is so much on offer there in terms of clubs/extra curricular/opportunities. St. Mary's has a much smaller feel. I would visit each school a few times both on open days and on actual school days to get a feel. Also, talk to the head, and as many current parents as you can, to help inform your decision.

Thanks for the responses. We’ve visited both a couple of times and really liked both although for slightly different reasons. RMS seemed to have a huge amount of facilities, clubs etc but the catchment is much wider so friends would be less local potentially and it would be a longer journey. We are more local to St Mary’s and liked the very warm feel - that the prep at RMS shared- and the sense of place and community but I’m not sure if it will feel a bit too small by the senior school. We are visiting both again so will keep thinking but would be keen to hear from anyone else at either school how they are finding it.
