Newton Prep or Thomas’s Battersea?

Hi everyone,
My daughter is registered for Newton Prep and Thomas’s Battersea for entry in September 2025. Assuming she gets into both and knowing location isn’t a problem as we are equidistant from both, I’d appreciate any thoughts about the 2 schools…pros and cons etc.
From visiting both of them I’ve been impressed by Alison Fleming but I’ve heard reports of her leaving because the owner’s children are now taking over and looking to extract more value from the school.
We are looking for a co-ed school with strong academics but also ample opportunity to participate in music, drama, culture and sport. I’ve heard Thomas’s isn’t very academic (and of course there’s been a safeguarding issue with the Deputy Head) but I’d love to get thoughts from parents at both schools. I also have a younger son so would be making this decision for both children.
Many thanks!

Hi, did you get any answers? What have you done at the end? Thanks

HI @MimiDou. We decided on Thomas's Battersea in the end. We really liked the Thomas's Head and were impressed by the school's all-round offering and strong focus on the arts/dance/drama. We figured if our daughter is academic she will be so regardless of where she ends up. We were incredibly impressed by Newton (great facilities, great reputation) but I felt a bit uneasy accepting a place at a school where I hadn't yet met the Head (although I have to say I've only heard great things about the incoming head). Good luck making the decision!
